Who we help

The drivers other agencies send away.

Most people who call our office have already been told no somewhere else, or quoted a price that made no sense. That is the work we know best.

New drivers

First policy, no driving history, no prior insurance on file. We know which carriers will write you and when the assigned-risk plan is the better route.

Teen drivers and their parents

Adding a 16 or 17 year old with a junior license is one of the biggest jumps a household sees. We lay out the options side by side.

College students

Stony Brook, Suffolk County Community College, Farmingdale State and other campuses. Your own policy or a parent’s, priced both ways.

Learner permit households

Getting ready for the road test? We set up the car and the household policy correctly before the test and the day after you pass.

Tickets, accidents, and points

A rough driving record does not mean you cannot be insured. It means you need a broker who works with the assigned-risk plan.

Lapsed or canceled coverage

Canceled for non-payment, or let a policy lapse? In New York that can put your registration at risk. Call before it gets worse.

How it works

Getting insured, in three steps.

When insurers will not write a policy on their own, New York’s Automobile Insurance Plan makes sure you can still drive legally. We handle the application.

  1. Tell us your situation

License status, driving record, the car, and what happened with your last insurer. No judgment, just the facts we need.

  2. We check every route

If a standard or non-standard carrier will take you, that is often cheaper. If not, we prepare and submit your assigned-risk application.

  3. Get covered, then save

We review your policy at renewal and move you to a better carrier as soon as your record allows.

Why a broker

We work for you, not for one insurance company.

A captive agent can only sell one company’s policy. As an independent brokerage, we compare what is available to you and walk you through what you’d gain or give up with each one.

Students & young drivers

Commuting to class shouldn’t cost more than tuition.

Young drivers pay the most for car insurance in New York, and students often get caught between a parent’s policy and their own. We sort out what makes sense for your household.

  • Your own policy versus staying on a parent’s, priced both ways
  • Discounts some carriers offer for good grades or a driver-training course
  • What changes when you move off campus or bring a car to school
  • Assigned-risk placement when a young driver is declined elsewhere

Questions

What people ask us most.

Don’t see your situation here? Call the office. If we can’t help, we’ll tell you who can.

What is assigned risk auto insurance in New York?

When insurance companies decline to write a policy for a driver on their own, the New York Automobile Insurance Plan (NYAIP), often called the assigned-risk plan, assigns that driver to a participating insurer. You get a real policy that meets New York’s requirements, at rates set under the plan.

A broker who works with the plan prepares and submits the application for you. That is a big part of what we do every day.

Can a teen or a driver with a learner permit be insured?

Yes. How permit holders are handled depends on the insurer. Some policies extend coverage to a permit holder practicing in a household car, while others want the new driver listed. We review your household policy and tell you exactly what needs to change before and after the road test.

My policy was canceled for non-payment. Can you still help me?

Yes. A cancellation for non-payment or a lapse in coverage makes some carriers hesitate, but it does not mean you cannot be insured. In New York, driving or keeping a registered car without insurance can lead to registration and license problems with the DMV, so call us as soon as you can.

How much does assigned risk insurance cost?

It depends on your driving record, your age and experience, the car, where it is garaged, and the coverage you choose. Assigned-risk rates are usually higher than the standard market, which is why we check other carriers first and review your policy at every renewal to move you to a better rate as soon as your record allows.

Can I do everything by phone?

Yes. Quotes, applications, documents, and ID cards can all be handled by phone, text, and email. Our office answers weekdays 9 AM to 6 PM and Saturdays 9 AM to 2 PM.

Do you only work with Suffolk County drivers?

Suffolk County is home, but we place coverage for drivers and families across Long Island, including Nassau County, and throughout New York State.

Turned down somewhere else? Call us before you give up.

Tell us what happened. We’ll go over your options, including the New York assigned-risk plan, and tell you honestly what it will take to get you insured.
