A country road between vineyards and farm fields on a summer day

Where the Expressway ends and the farms begin

The Long Island Expressway ends in Riverhead, and from here the roads split toward the North Fork and the South Fork. Route 25 and Sound Avenue carry drivers east past farm stands and vineyards, while Route 24 heads through Flanders toward Hampton Bays. Riverhead is also the Suffolk County seat, so county offices and courts bring weekday traffic into town. The landscape changes quickly once you leave the highway.

Traffic here follows the seasons. Summer brings beachgoers and weekend visitors, and fall brings pumpkin picking, wine tasting and harvest crowds on two-lane roads. Tanger Outlets and the big stores along Route 58 draw shoppers all year. For people who live and work here, that means sharing slow country roads with visitors who do not know them, along with tractors, farm trucks and deer.

We help East End drivers find coverage that matches how they actually drive, and we place assigned-risk auto insurance for new, young and high-risk drivers who have been declined. We also quote homeowners insurance for houses in town and out in the country. Our office is in West Babylon, a long drive west, so we are set up to handle the whole process by phone, text and email. Nobody has to give up a morning on the Expressway to get a quote.

Drivers we help in Riverhead

East End driving situations we help with

Seasonal and farm workers

Jobs at farms, wineries and summer businesses often mean long drives on rural roads. We can help you get a policy in place before the season starts.

Students at SCCC’s Eastern campus

The Eastern campus serves students from across the East End, and getting there usually takes a car. We help first-time policyholders understand what they are buying.

Drivers sharing the road with deer

Wooded and farm roads east of the Expressway see plenty of deer, especially in the fall. Comprehensive is the part of a policy that pays when one hits your car.

Drivers returning after a suspension

Once a license is restored, getting insured again can be hard. We check the carriers available to us and the assigned-risk plan so you can register a car again.

Local knowledge

The county seat at the edge of the farms

Downtown Riverhead sits along the Peconic River, with the Long Island Aquarium, Main Street shops and a riverfront that draws visitors. Route 58 is the main commercial strip, home to Tanger Outlets and large retailers. Calverton, Wading River and Baiting Hollow stretch west and north toward Long Island Sound, while Aquebogue and Jamesport lead east into wine country.

The Peconic River and Flanders Bay, along with the bluffs on the Sound, give some Riverhead properties water exposure that inland Suffolk does not share. Many local businesses are seasonal or tied to farming and tourism, and their insurance needs to fit how they really operate, including the busy months and the quiet ones.

Questions

Riverhead insurance FAQ

Can I get car insurance in Riverhead without driving to your office?

Yes. West Babylon is a long trip from the East End, and you do not need to make it. We take your information by phone, text or email, send quotes and paperwork by email, and email your insurance ID cards once the policy is issued.

Can I drop my car insurance during the off-season?

Not while the car is registered. New York requires continuous coverage on every registered vehicle, even one that sits for months, and a lapse can lead the DMV to suspend the registration. If a car will be off the road for a long stretch, talk with us first. The plates generally need to be surrendered before coverage ends.

Can a new driver on the East End get insured after being turned down?

Yes. A teen or first-time driver with no history may be declined by some carriers. We look at the carriers available to us first, and if none will write the policy, we can apply through the New York Automobile Insurance Plan. That keeps the car legally registered while the driver builds a record.
